Cannabidiol (CBD) is a 100% naturally occurring compound found in the resinous flower and leaves of the Cannabis Sativa l plant. This is a plant with a rich history as a medicine going back thousands of years. Cbd oil generally contains a full spectrum of cannbinoinds ranging from CBD to cbda, cbdv, cbg, delta 8 THC. All of which have benefits in a range of applications through the industry as health and food supplements.
Hemp, a strain of Cannabis Sativa, is a wonderfully diverse plant, known for its variety of uses throughout human history. Cultivated or grown mainly for either it’s stalk and fibre for clothing, building materials and paper, or seeds for a nutritious supplement or cold pressed into hemp seed oil. The leaves and roots also have many medicinal qualities. Cannabis strains must contain less than 0.2% THC to be classed as hemp and legally sold in the U.K. The hemp plant has a deep taproot, giving it the ability to grow in dry conditions.
CBD is a non-psychoactive Cannabinoid meaning, it won’t get you high. To be legal in the UK, CBD products must contain 1mg per container of THC or 0.2% THC in a farming environment, and therefore CBD products allow you to experience the benefits of the other cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant without experiencing any psychoactive effects.
CBD products are legal to buy and sell in the UK, as long as they are derived from one of the 63 industrial hemp strains that have been EU-approved. To be legal for sale in the UK, Hemp must not contain more than 0.2% in farming of the illegal and psychoactive compound, THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), or 1mg per container in the finished product.
CBD Oil is a liquid cannabis extract that contains a wide variety of cannabinoids. It’s commonly made from the flowers and leaves of the hemp plant (cannabis sativa L genus) and can be made from raw Co2 extracts (Pastes) crude oil or CBD distillate generally suspended in a carrier oil such as hemp seed oil or olive oil for easy delivery to the consumer.
Terpenes are the flavonoids of the cannabis plant and generally define the overall mood of the end product, Terpenes are also present in every plant and fruit mother nature has ever produced. Have you ever taken a walk through a pine forest and experienced a relaxed feeling? This for instance is due to high level of pinine and myrcene. A more uplifting terpenes profile would be one rich in linalool and lemonine, Terpenes are also used widely in aromatherapy in the form of essential oils.
Absolutely! CBD infused oils are a fantastic ingredient to cook with and you can also cook with hemp and hemp seed oil too. But where CBD is concerned is is recommended to cook on a lower temperature of around 135 degrees to prevent the extract from Decarboxulation. ie: CBDA turns to CBD after 45 mins at 140 degrees.
